A Catan board is a piece of hardwood that people will spend hundreds of hours around. Names get carved into it. Dates get carved into it. The board becomes the object — and it becomes yours, specifically.

Our Heirloom Inlay boards can be engraved on the face with text, images, or both. A family name. A wedding date. A monogram. A hand-drawn logo. A hex the recipient sketched on a napkin. Bryce reviews every design personally and sends a proof before we cut anything — if it doesn't seat cleanly in the layout, we redraw it together.

Personalization is a $50 add-on across the entire Heirloom line. The engraving lives on the wood forever — CNC-carved to the same tolerance as the tile pockets, then hand-finished with Odie's Oil. It doesn't sit on the surface like a sticker. It becomes part of the board.

Made one at a time in our shop in Tulsa. 3–4 weeks for the standard build, 4–5 weeks when engraving is included.

Engravable boards

“I wanted the Heir engraved with my son's initials and the year our first grandkid was born on the flip side. Bryce sent a proof the same day, cleaned up my sketch, and the finished board reads exactly like I hoped it would. Two carved dates, two games, one heirloom.” — Diane R., verified owner

Common questions

What can I engrave on the board?

Text (names, dates, monograms), original artwork (a logo, a family crest, a hand-drawn hex), or both together. Bryce reviews every submission personally and sends a proof before anything is cut. If a design won't seat cleanly given the harbor ring and hex layout, we redraw together — no charge.

How do I submit my design?

Add engraving as the personalization option at checkout, then reply to the order confirmation with your file or specifications. Vector files (SVG, PDF, AI) work best for artwork. For text, plain text in the message is fine — we handle the font work.

Is engraving available on The Heir's second face?

Yes. The Heir is our double-sided board (2–4 on one face, 5–6 expansion on the other). You can engrave one face or both. Both-face engraving still runs $50 total — no per-face upcharge.

Does personalization affect the play surface?

No. Engraving lives on the border area outside the hex layout — never on a tile pocket or a harbor slot. Every playing surface stays flush regardless of what's carved into the board.

How long does engraving add to lead time?

About a week. Standard lead time is 3–4 weeks; add engraving and it becomes 4–5 weeks. Design review typically takes 1–2 business days on our end, so submit your artwork within a day of ordering to avoid slippage.

Can I engrave the Field Edition too?

Yes. The HDPE Field Edition supports the same $50 engraving option. The engraving is CNC-carved into the polymer instead of the wood — same tolerance, different material. Weatherproof and food-safe just like the rest of the board.
