Wooden Catan Board for 5–6 Player Expansion

Full 37″ heirloom-inlay board sized for the Catan 5–6 player set. CNC-cut in six American hardwoods, made one at a time in our shop in Tulsa.

The Catan 5–6 player expansion doubles the map. It also outgrows almost every wooden Catan board on the market. Most heirloom boards are cut for the base game — 2–4 players, 19 hexes — and they simply can't hold the expansion tile layout without the map spilling off the edge.

Our expansion-size board is built to fit the full 5–6 player set. It measures 37 inches tip to tip, and every hex tile and every harbor drops into its own precision-carved pocket. When you play, the tiles stay put. When you pack up, the board goes back on the shelf.

Made one at a time in our shop in Tulsa, on our Shapeoko 5 Pro. Available in six American hardwoods, including Pecan and Osage Orange — both grown within an hour of the shop. Every piece hand-checked before it ships. Lead time is 3–4 weeks.

“We finally had a board that fit the 5–6 expansion without hexes hanging off the edge. Feels like it was built for our Tuesday nights.” — Andrew M., verified owner

Common questions

Does this board fit the standard Catan 5–6 expansion tile set?

Yes. It's cut to the exact hex layout of the Catan 5–6 Player Extension, which extends the base 19-hex map to a 30-hex layout. Every pocket matches the standard tile size — no trimming, no gaps.

Do I need the base game or the expansion pack to use this?

Yes. This is the board only. You'll need the standard Catan base game plus the official 5–6 Player Extension expansion set. We don't include game pieces.

Can I still play 3–4 players on this board?

It's built for the 5–6 expansion layout, so it will physically hold the 3–4 game, but you'll have unused hexes around the edge. If you play both scales, look at The Heir — it's a double-sided board with 2–4 on one face and 5–6 on the other.

What hardwoods can I choose from?

Six American species: maple, white oak, cherry, pecan, walnut, and Osage Orange. Pecan and Osage Orange are Oklahoma-native — you won't find them on other Catan boards on the internet.

How is this board different from The Heir?

The Heir is double-sided — 2–4 on one face, 5–6 on the other, in a single board. This board is single-sided and 5–6-only. If you exclusively play the expansion, this is the leaner buy. If you switch back and forth, The Heir is worth the upgrade.

How long does it take to make?

3–4 weeks from order. Every board is cut, hand-finished with Odie's Oil, and hand-checked before it ships. If you need it for a specific date, order at least 5 weeks out.
